This cast iron grill pan with removable wooden handle is part of Fiskars&#8217 top-quality Norden cookware range inspired by Nordic cooking traditions. Due to the unique Thermium® mineral treatment on top of the matt black surface, this Norden cast iron grill pan has a natural non-stick surface, which means you can use this product even with the most delicate ingredients and it&#8217s easy to clean. Due to the application in a very thin layer, food flavours and juices are as quickly sealed as in uncoated cast iron grill pans. The heat-treated birchwood handle is safe to touch and can be removed for oven use. This premium quality cast iron grill pan is the perfect choice for high-heat grilling. The Norden collection is made in Finland using strong, durable and low-maintenance materials such as cast iron and wood. What is Thermium® Technology?
Thermium® is a non-stick surface treatment especially developed for iron or stainless steel surfaces. Main components are natural silicium and oxygen, applied in a very thin layer of 1 micron, resulting in a very heat-resistant, durable and chemically stable non-stick surface. It does not contain any heavy metals or plastics and is totally PFOA and PTFE free. Even when heated at very high temperatures, there is no risk of release of chemical substances. Due to the application in a very thin layer, food flavours and juices are as quickly sealed as in uncoated cast iron cookware, while still offering the advantages of a non-stick coating. This means Norden cookware can be used for delicate food like fish and is very easy to clean.
As is the case with all non-stick cookware, the non-stick properties will gradually diminish over time, but it will always remain totally safe to use. Unlike PTFE coated cookware, there will be no release of microplastics due to the wear of the non-stick coating, because Thermium® is a non polymer based technology. Even with reduced non-stick properties, Norden cast iron cookware will continue to function just like any other high-quality cast iron cookware.
